Now...That's Fabulous!

“That’s fabulous,” says your best friend enthusiastically about your new and inventive idea while sipping on her cappuccino. “Those shoes would look just fabulous on you,” says the savvy sales clerk in expectation of a pricey sale.

Today the word ‘fabulous’ is one of the hottest and most fabricated words being used all over the world. Somehow, the very use of this exhilarating yet casual slang seems to direct a positive and wholehearted response to its thrilled and honored recipient.

Fabulous is most commonly defined as ‘incredible’ or ‘marvelous. The rest of the definition gives a clue as to why most women don’t feel fabulous and thousands have totally given up. One dictionary further defines fabulous as resembling a fairy tale or fable. It paints a picture that the word “fabulous” is based on fiction! It is based on an unachievable dream. It is legendary . . .  unachievable…. No wonder most think the word is reserved for women in the 90210 zip code! So, the average woman gives up. No more attempts at dieting. No new memberships at health clubs. We end up buying magazines to read about those who we believe really are fabulous, while we just sit back and dream.

It's Time For A Change!

We, the staff at The Fabulous Woman, say that it's time for a new definition of “fabulous” that doesn’t require tens of thousands of dollars and a plastic surgeon. It doesn’t mean size 0 jeans and junior tops. It is time to once again pick up your dreams, rip them out of the fairy tale coloring book where they are 2-D, and make them real! It is time to color your dreams. It is time to stop looking at your life as an outline of what you hoped for and instead start putting the color back into your life, with the unique brush strokes that are uniquely yours, and be who you were born to be -- a truly fabulous woman!

Any woman who drowns out the voices which attempt to control her dreams and ambitions and instead becomes the person she always hoped she could be is fabulous. A single mother who struggles to make ends meet yet never ceases caring for her children is fabulous. A woman who overcomes a past life of crime and drugs to become a loving wife and caring mother is fabulous. We've become accustomed to living the labels slapped upon us by others and even ourselves. Therefore, a fabulous woman is one who lives life outside the box and reaches for possibilities instead of listing her limitations.

And it is to every woman who yearns to be free that we dedicate this “on-line” magazine.
