Romance: Yulanda's Love Notes
Someone To Watch Over Me
by Yulanda Mason
Three times a week I strapped on my running shoes to jog in Central Park. At least once a
week for the past five months he ran beside me. The first time I noticed him I had been
running with a girlfriend of mine. We were in the middle of stretches when I felt that
sensation you get when you're being watched. I was bent at the knees as I turned my head
in his direction. He stood under a huge tree watching. He fit in easily with the rest of the
runners. He wore gray sweats and had his earphones in his ears. He was attractive in an

By Athena Lee Brown
They laughed as they spurred their horses along. This was the time they had
stolen to be together-away from everyone-to be free and unrestricted. Her father, King
Robert of Ettrick, had always given his daughter a free hand to do as she pleased. Sir

her so many years ago. They took long rides each afternoon, leaving her maid and Sir
Alfred's page by a stream as they went racing the hillsides.
She knew that she should head back to the castle soon. (Read More)

greeting his family as he placed the sandwiches he had brought home
from work on the counter. There was a quick nod in her direction, but
no other acknowledgment of her presence. He sat down at the table
behind her and exchanged tales of the day's events with his mother and
sister. His family tried to ease the obvious tension, all smiles and
easy conversation, though you could see the wheels turning in their
heads, trying to figure out what was going on. (Read More)
A Short Story by Nancy Sack
Pull Back
Two weeks ago in a heightened, orange
terror alert, Mary and her daughter, Grace, boarded a jet from O'Hare
bound for Las Vegas for their yearly trip to see shows, to people
watch, and to gamble. Prior to their excursion, Mary had been
hospitalized due to her ongoing heart problems. Mary had had two
previous heart procedures to attend to the blockage in her arteries.
Although Mary had to use an oxygen device, she wasn't going to let this
complication detain her from going to Vegas with her daughter during
the holiday season.
As she sat next to her daughter, Mary wondered how many more Vegas
trips she would be able to take with her daughter. She hoped many more.
The dinners and the shows entertained her immensely. The glitter and
the colorful array of outfits enchanted her. (Read More)
